UPDATE: We are re-opening at 6:00pm, Friday, 29th October, 2021

FIT247 Footscray will be re-opening on Friday 29th October, at 6:00pm.

Please note that all members need to to check-in to the gym upon entry – as per the government mandate that applies to all gyms in Victoria, any member entering the gym must either be fully vaccinated or have a Australian Government issued medical exemption.

Masks are mandatory for all members, unless you are out of breath – government policy is that you must come in/leave the gym wearing one, and always have one on you when training – if you are out of breath, you are allowed to pull it down during your workout (you must still have it on you at all times).

If you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, loss of smell or taste – you are not permitted to enter the gym. Please get tested. Awaiting the results of a test? You are not permitted to leave home or enter the gym. Close contact of a confirmed case? You are not permitted to enter the gym.

When training, please allow 4sq metres per person during staffed hours and 8sq metres when the gym is unstaffed. Most of our gym equipment “naturally” sits on a 4sq metre footprint – however during unstaffed hours, please ensure you have at least one piece of equipment/station next to you that is free – this ensures members meet the 8sq metre per person rule while training.

Please try your best to maintain social distancing – at least 1.5 metres between people while training.

Multiple hand sanitising stations are located around the gym (please sanitise upon entry either outside or inside the centre), as are equipment sanitisers (please wipe down touch points when you are finished with a piece of equipment).

Hygiene is critical. Please sanitise or wash hands regularly. Free gloves (one pair per gym session) are available at entry.

Otherwise, we look forward to seeing you all of our members back across the next little while.

FIT247 Footscray update – 05/08/2021: Lockdown 6

Dear members,

As many of you may already be aware, the Victorian government has implemented a new lockdown across Victoria, beginning 8pm on Thursday, 8th of August, 2021. This shutdown includes the closure of fitness centres.

As per the government directive, FIT247 Footscray will be temporarily closing and will re-open when restrictions are lifted – at this stage, the advice is that the shutdown will now last for 7 days and the current lockdown will be lifted on Friday the 13th of July, 2021.

As with previous lockdowns, this date may change – our website is the best place to stay updated on re-opening. Rest assured we will re-open the moment the health authorities deem it appropriate for Victoria’s fitness centres to do so.

As with the last lockdown, we will again apply a free pause to all memberships across the next 24 hours, therefore you don’t have to do anything, your membership will be automatically placed on hold. If you’ve recently made a fortnightly/monthly payment, it will be applied to your membership (pro-rata) when we re-open. If you’ve paid 6 or 12 months in advance, any time that we’re closed will be added to the back end of your membership. If there’s any issue, please let us know and we’ll work to fix it immediately.

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience that this temporary closure may cause, thank you for your ongoing support and most importantly, we wish you and your loved ones health and safety through these difficult times, and look forward to seeing you on the gym floor again soon.

– Management, FIT247 Footscray

UPDATE- RE-OPENING INFORMATION – 5:00am WEDNESDAY 28th of July

We’ve re-opened – hopefully the fifth time is a charm.

A few policy reminders and updates:

Checking in is mandatory.

Masks are mandatory on your way in to the gym, on your way out of the gym, and you must have one with you at all times while in the gym – you may lower it if you exerting yourself during exercise.

The government is mandating a 4sq metre per person density quotient on the gym floor. Given that most of our pieces of equipment are setup with a 4 square metre footprint, in most cases you will have a 4sq metre allowance on most machines – if someone is working out in an area, please don’t crowd their space – try to choose a workout area that is free, or otherwise please wait until they are finished before moving into it. Where possible, please try to be as efficient with your training as possible.

Given our duty of care to all of our members and staff, these following rules are in place.

All Members:

  • Must sanitise their hands upon entry to the gym.

  • All members need to wear a mask during workouts – UNLESS YOU ARE OUT OF BREATH. If you are out of breath, it’s very important to understand that you are allowed to lower your mask. This policy is in line with government regulations.

  • Must wipe machines and equipment you’ve used with disinfectant spray provided. There are six sanitising/gym wipe stations around the centre.

  • Must bring a towel, otherwise you will be refused entry.

  • Must bring your own water bottle (water fountains are unfortunately temporarily unavailable)

  • Must try to maintain at least a 1.5m social distance with other members at all times. Please use common sense with this – eg: try to use every second machine/bench where possible.

  • Most importantly, if you are sick or exhibit any flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat) you MUST not enter the facilities. If you have been in close contact with anyone exhibiting these symptoms, you must not enter the gym. If you have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with Covid-19, you must stay home. If you are awaiting a test, please stay home until you receive a negative result.

  • If possible, we encourage members to try workout during off peak periods to try control the numbers of members on the gym floor at any one time. Although even during peak times every member has plenty of room, if training sessions are a little more spread across the day, it makes things like maintaining social distancing etc much easier.

  • We are enforcing a strict “no dawdling” policy – with restrictions in place, we unfortunately do not have the luxury of having people looking on their phones in between sets for 10, 20, 30 minutes during a gym session – the pandemic needs us to all make sacrifices, and one of those needs to be making our work outs as efficient as humanly possible in the interest of the health of all fellow members.

Once again, thank you to our amazing members for your support and patience across across the last 18 months, can’t wait to see you on the gym floor across the next few weeks.

-FIT247 Footscray

FIT247 Re-opening Information

UPDATE- RE-OPENING INFORMATION – Policies from 5:00am, MONDAY, 23rd of November

We have re-opened! After a very long 7 months, we hope you are as excited as we are to get back on to the gym floor!

We’ve introduced a few additional measures for everyone’s health and safety, and will also need our members to follow some additional protocols as per government advice.

The government is recommending an 4sq metre rule per person on the gym floor.

Given that most of our pieces of equipment are setup with a 4 square metre footprint, in most cases you will have a 4sq metre allowance on most machines – however we are asking that, where possible members choose a machine, workout space, bench or piece of equipment that has at least one adjacent area/machine free.

If someone is working out and only has one adjacent workout area free, please wait until they are finished before moving into it. Where possible, please only use every second cardio or pin-loaded machine, and please try to be as efficient as possible on them.

Where possible, maintaining a 1.5 metre distance from other members is required to assist with social distancing.

There is no need to book your training sessions, however with the latest easing of restrictions, during peak times, we request that try to restrict your sessions to 60 minutes. Outside of peak times, if you could please restrict sessions to 90 minutes, it would be greatly appreciated.

We have installed a touchless biometric scanner – for the time being your security key/fob will get you into the gym by tapping it on the top of the new scanner, however we would prefer to get everyone enrolled on the new scanner across the next few weeks. If you can call 0481 348 247 prior to arriving, we can have the system ready to enrol you by the time you are at the door. If you have issues with accessing the gym upstairs with your key, please call 0481 348 247 (at any time).

For anyone attending during staffed hours, if you have two minutes to spare we enrol you on the new system while you are training, or otherwise we can book a time in.

For anyone who has previously upgraded to the 100% keyless option, please email info@fit247.com.au for instructions on how to enter, or otherwise call when at the entrance – we will be able to get you in remotely, however ideally we will need to organise a time to get you on to the new system as soon as possible (preferably between 6am and 11:30pm).

We have new stations arriving this week, so will be up to 5 sanitising wiping stations in addition to the 5 hand sanitiser stations around the centre.

  • Must bring a towel, otherwise you will be refused entry.

  • Must bring your own water bottle (water fountains are unfortunately now unavailable)

  • We are still confirming with government on whether showers facilities are restricted. Please be aware that showers MAY not be available.

  • If possible, we are encouraging members to try workout during off peak periods to try control the numbers of members on the gym floor at any one time. Although we have never had issues with going near the government restriction limits before, if training sessions are a little more spread across the day, it makes things like maintaining social distancing etc much easier.

Once again, thank you to our amazing members for your support and patience across this year, can’t wait to see you on the gym floor across the next few months.

UPDATE- 27/10/2020

After the amazing work and sacrifices of the Victorian community across the last 7 months, we have a re-opening date!

UPDATE- 18/10/2020

We are currently awaiting further information, announcements and confirmation from the Victorian Government on easing of restrictions and how they will apply for fitness centres in Metropolitan Melbourne.

Once we have a fixed date for re-opening, it will be communicated on this page.

Thank you to all of our members for your incredible patience and support, we hope to have some further info in the next 48 hours!

Dear members,

As you’re probably already aware, to reduce the risk of community transmission of Covid19, the Victorian government has implemented a new shutdown across metropolitan Melbourne set to begin 11:59pm on Wednesday 8th of July, 2020. This shutdown includes the closure of fitness centres.

As per the government directive, FIT247 Footscray will be temporarily be closing the gym and will re-open immediately following the lifting of restrictions – at this stage, the government advice is that the shutdown will last for 6 weeks and the current restrictions will be lifted on Thursday the 20th of August, 2020.

However as the situation is so fluid, this date is subject to change. Rest assured we will re-open the moment the health authorities deem it appropriate for Victoria’s fitness centres to do so (the re-opening recommendations and requirements that applied to our earlier re-opening will still apply).

As with the previous shutdown, we will work through to apply a free pause to all membership payments within 24 hours, therefore you don’t have to do anything, your membership will be automatically paused before tomorrow (Thursday 9th July). As we are dealing with a significant amount of enquiries re: the situation, we can’t thank you enough for your patience during this period – we’re doing our best to work through questions and enquiries as quickly as possible.

If you’ve recently made a fortnightly or monthly payment, it will be automatically applied to your membership when we re-open. If you’ve paid 6 or 12 months in advance, any time that we’re closed will be added to the back end of your membership. If there’s any issue, please let us know and we’ll work to fix it immediately.

As we will have upgraded our security system to a new, cutting edge touchless hand scanner by the new re-opening date, please ensure you have your key/security fob ready to enter both downstairs and upstairs- if you’ve lost your key/fob or have previously upgraded to keyless, please get it touch so we can organise a replacement before the re-opening.

Once again, we apologise for any inconvenience that this temporary closure may cause, thank you for your ongoing support and most importantly, wish you and your loved ones health and safety through these difficult times, and look forward to seeing you on the gym floor again, hopefully in mid-August.

-Management,

FIT247 Footscray

June 22, 2020 – Re-opening details requirements (Update: Gym has been temporarily closed again due to restrictions)

What we’re doing to assist with hygiene and social distancing and some other changes:

Upgraded sanitising and cleaning at the gym, added five hand sanitising stations, installed additional equipment sanitisers with wipes, have moved certain pieces or equipment to assist with social distancing and have temporarily put other pieces equipment out of action to maintain 1.5 metres. We are also offering free nitrile gloves upon entry to all members (a pair of gloves per session per member).

Across the next little while, we will be upgrading to a cutting edge biometric scanner that works with a touchless interface (members please read for further info on this towards the bottom of the page)

In this new environment, we have a few guidelines our members must abide by.

All Members:

Must sanitise their hands upon entry to the gym.

Must wipe machines and equipment you’ve used with disinfectant spray provided.

Must bring a towel, otherwise you will be refused entry.

Must bring your own water bottle (water fountains are unfortunately now unavailable)

Must maintain 1.5m social distancing with other members at all times. Please use common sense with this – try to use every second machine/bench where possible.

Most importantly, if you are sick or exhibit any flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat) you MUST not enter the facilities. If you have been in close contact with anyone exhibiting these symptoms, you must not enter the gym. If you have been in contact with anyone diagnosed with Covid-19, you must stay home.

We are still confirming with government on whether showers facilities are restricted. Please be aware that showers MAY not be available.

We are now restricted to 20 people maximum on the gym floor. Although we have never had issues with going over this number before, we are trying to manage things in order to avoid any issues. Part of this is encouraging members to try workout during off peak periods to try minimise numbers of members on the gym floor at any one time.

During peak times, we are also asking members to try keep their workouts to below 60 minutes, and are enforcing a strict “no dawdling” policy – with restrictions in place, we unfortunately do not have the luxury of having people looking on their phones for 10, 20, 30 minutes during a gym session – the pandemic needs us to all make sacrifices, and one of those needs to be making our work outs as efficient as humanly possible in the interest of the health of all fellow members.

At this stage bookings are not required – this is a moving situation, so we may be in touch with details if this changes.

BIOMETRIC READER UPDATE:

We are in the process of upgrading to a TOUCHLESS hand scanner in the next week or so. It is department of defence grade unit at the cutting edge of modern security standards, and we can almost guarantee that no other gym in Australia (or possibly the world) has anything like it.

What this means for you:

The good part: 100% hygienic – the new technology is completely touchless to scan yourself into the gym.

The bad part: it is a new type of hand scanner, so we will need a few minutes (either before/after/during a gym session) of your time to be enrolled on the new system.

Once the new system is installed, as a temporary measure until we can get all members enrolled, scanning your security key alone will get you into the gym. If you have upgraded to our “100% keyless” option, please email info@fit247.com.au – unless we get you on the system straight away, you won’t be able to get in once the upgrade has been completed.
